Court Dismissal: Edeoga frustrating progress of our party in Enugu – national office
The National Legal Adviser of the Labour Party, Barr. Akingbade Oyelekan has accused the sacked Labour Party guber candidate in Enugu, Chief Chijioke Edeoga of being the brain behind the crisis bedeviling the party in the state.
Reacting to the recent dismissal of Edeoga’s suit yesterday by the Court of Appeal, Oyelekan had insisted that Edeoga out of desperation has rejected the suggestions made by the party to conduct fresh primary for the guber aspirants in the state, insisting that he shall exhaust all the possible legal means to reclaim his candidacy.
He further recorded his grievances about Edeoga, maintaining that the progress of the party in Enugu State should have been felt by the people if not for Edeoga’s selfish pursuit for the guber ticket, urging political parties to be wary of desperate politicians who defect to their parties only to cause disunity, frustration, and slaughter their fundamental mission and principles on the altar of self-centered desire.
“It should be worthy of note that the party has no guber candidate in Enugu State as we speak. The crisis rocking the party in Enugu is such a serious one as Edeoga’s desperation continues to fight against all the efforts made to put the house in order.
We advised that fresh primary elections be conducted but Edeoga objected and said he will fight to finish. I wouldn’t know what his fears are. If he feels he enjoys the acceptance of the people, let him go to the field with Everest Nnaji and let’s know the male between the two tortoises. It is obvious that his defection to our party is borne out of frustration, desperation and selfishness. It is our prayer that Enugu will have a Labour Party guber candidate but not a desperate one that is ready to burn down everything we hold dear to just to rule the people”, the national legal adviser said.
