News Break: Nweke blasts ‘misguided Obidients’ over attack on guber candidate, cautions Edeoga against political violence

By Benedict Nwatu

The guber candidate of the All Progressive Congress in Enugu, Frank Nweke Jnr has issued a statement condemning the recent criminal activities of Enugu Labour Party on Peter Mbah, the Enugu PDP guber candidate, and the violent attack in Abakpa market yesterday.

Mbah’s convoy was, on Sunday, attacked on his way to a church service at Ugwu-Di Nso where his vehicles were badly damaged by the paid Labour Party thugs disguising as Obidients.

Nweke, while condemning the act in a statement released by him, lambasted “some misguided Obidients in Enugu” for such show of criminality and hooliganism, describing them as rascals who could not differentiate between the true character of Peter Obi and that of the failed commissioner for environment, Chijioke Edeoga who has been latching on the Obidient Movement to sell his candidacy even when Peter Obi has cautioned him to stop selling his candidacy with his name.

The former Minister of Information and Communication warned that politics shouldn’t be a do-or-die affair as the senator-elect of the Enugu North Senatorial Zone, Okey Ezea, had preached.

He further called on parents to reign in on their wards to avoid heating up the atmosphere, saying the best and most competent candidate should be voted for.

“Let me warn that there’s a huge difference between Obidients Movement guided by the competent and track records of Mr. Peter Obi, and the Labour Party which is a mere vehicle with those impostors hiding under it in the name of supporting Obi. People should question those in Labour Party in Enugu State today; they’re criminals that ran away from PDP after they failed in the political desperation to be governor,” he said.

He, therefore, called on the national leadership of the Labour Party to call Edeoga and other of his co-travelers to order as this style of politics will land Enugu state in regret.
