A group, South East Youths Progressive Forum has lauded the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah on his relentless efforts in bringing an end to the illegal sit-at-home order in the state.
In a statement issued this morning, July 31, 2023 during an on-air radio program on Magic FM, 101.9 Aba, Abia State, the group president, Barr. Gregory Obika had called on the governors from South East to toe the line of the Enugu State governor, engaging in consultations with the relevant stakeholders, providing adequate security, sealing market shops and sanctioning erring civil servants who have vowed never to comply with the state’s directive in ending the sit-at-home menace which has eaten deep into the fabrics of the state’s economy.
Mr. Obika, went further to eulogize the Enugu State governor for remaining undeterred despite the incessant threats coming from the Finland-based self-acclaimed Biafran Prime Minister in Exile, Simon Ekpa to sanction anyone who fails to comply with his illegal sit-at-home order. He maintained that the issue confronting the people of the South East is fear, even when adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and properties of the citizens.
The president took pleasure in Mbah’s Monday sealing of the shops of traders in the markets who had chosen to comply with Ekpa’s illegal sit-at-home order, asserting that those who mean business should be given their shops for business to boom, while those who are still observing the sit-at-home order on Mondays can now freely enjoy their wilful sitting at home.
“I think what is currently happening in Enugu State is something worthy of emulation by other governors in the South East. The governor of the state is not giving up in his fight to restore normalcy in the economic system of the state. He has faced the battle headlong and is ready to deploy the powers of the state to achieve that aim. It is not the case of Nnamdi Kanu’s forceful detention, it is the case of one individual being sponsored by some enemies of Ndi Igbo to destroy the Igbo land.
“A man will stay in far away Finland and be dictating to us what we should be doing in our land, is that not madness? When shall the Igbo youths wake up and battle this menace which has been destroying our land? Recall that Ekpa does not have the sympathy of Nnamdi Kanu. Before Kanu was arrested, Ekpa had threatened to arrest him in the UK and hand him over to the Nigerian government. They had been at loggerheads.
“Peter Mbah, before declaring an end to sit-at-home, first met Bola Tinubu, the President of Nigeria and asked for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. Among all the governors in the South East, it is only Charles Soludo and Peter Mbah that have summoned the courage to ask for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. Putting the blame on them is undeserving. They are coming from a private sector background and know that Monday sit-at-home is affecting us a great deal. So, I am urging other South East governors to emulate Mbah on this zeal aimed at ending the issue of sit-at-home. If you are ready to do business, please do business and if you are not ready, let the shops be allocated to the serious ones. Success in life is not an accident, it is the result of a series of right decisions made at the right time. Mbah is taking the right decision,” Barr. Obika said.
