BREAKING: Edeoga’s bodyguard cocks gun, threatens to shoot as lawyers struggle to gain entry into courtroom (Video)
It may not have been a good sight today seeing lawyers struggling to gain access into the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting today, Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
The entrance was immediately blocked by the security details attached to the Labour Party guber candidate, Chijioke Edeoga as he made a noisy entry into the courtroom.
Lawyers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) who had been waiting patiently before the courtroom door was opened were immediately barred from gaining into the courtroom by the angry-looking DSS operatives clearing the way for Edeoga following an order given by the Labour Party governorship candidate in the March 18 Enugu election.
On seeing the manner the security operatives were ushering the lawyers of Chijioke Edeoga into the court and preventing others from gaining entry, while Edeoga was standing in front of the door giving orders on who should be allowed and who not to be allowed in.
The unpleasant and brazen conducts of Edeoga angered the lawyers from the other sides provoking an uproar and verbal wars.
This incensed one of the DSS operatives identified as Nnaemeka who raised his gun, cocked and threatened to shoot a lawyer later identified as Mathew Eze of the law chamber of Chief Anthony Ani, SAN, or anyone who dared to challenge him.
“If dem born your papa well, talk to me in that manner again,” Nnaemeka fired menacingly at the lawyers.
Noticing the implication of what Nnaemeka had done, Edeoga drew nearer, tapped his back and whispered words to his ears after which he (Edeoga) told his supporters to go down to the basement and stay.
“Please, if you know you are here for me, the atmosphere has been charged and I will urge you to go down to the basement and stay while we handle the rest of other problems,” Edeoga ordered them.
A senior lawyer who witnessed the entire scenario expressed shock and disgust at the conduct of Edeoga and his security details. “This is absolutely shocking and if this is how Barr Edeoga is going to be governor, then we are doomed. But God forbid!”, he said.
Meanwhile, the tribunal began sitting at 9:04 am following the arrival of the judges.
