Confusion in Enugu Labour Party as Peter Obi refuses to identify with Edeoga
The supporters of the sacked Enugu Labour Party guber candidate, Chijioke Edeoga were recently thrown into confusion as Peter Obi refuses to identify with him.
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party made this clear on Sunday while felicitating with the former Ohanaeze President General, Nnia Nwodo on the occasion of his 70th birthday held at his residence in GRA, Enugu.
Edeoga was seen in a viral video panting and sweating profusely as he desperately fought to push his way through to Peter Obi, to take a photo with him as a way to identify with his people-oriented goodwill, and shamelessly rub that off his dead-on-arrival guber candidacy.
Obi while addressing the press after the incident said that he would not want to identify with anyone who calls himself a guber candidate of the Labour Party in Enugu State since the court has ruled that the LP has no candidate pending the conduct of a new primary election.
“I believe in the rule of law. As citizens aspiring to assume leadership positions, we should learn how to obey court orders. How can someone come to me with the identity that he is the Labour Party guber candidate in Enugu when I know the court had ruled otherwise. You see, I don’t believe in desperate politics. We should try to be moderate in the pursuit of political power. My integrity will be questioned if today I show contempt for the rule of law by acting against a court ruling that is still valid. The most important part of democracy is the respect for the fundamental human rights of the people and the rule of law. No one is above the law.
The Enugu Labour Party will fix the problem, and the candidates should know that it’s only the people that can guarantee the winning of their respective elections, not myself, Peter Obi,’ he stated.
