Don’t ask me why the choice of the title of the article. The title is apt, considering that there is no Labour Party in Enugu State in real sense of it. Obviously and as can be seen across Enugu State, those who are Obidient are not Nsukka Labourers or their associates.
Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi knows this. This is why Mr. Obi has been very careful with the so-called Nsukka labourers and their antics. This is also why Nsukka labourers have been labouring in vain to be recognised or carried along by Mr. Obi and his followers.
Meanwhile, what looks like Labour Party in Enugu State are bunch of few aggrieved PDP members and their co-travellers who have been labouring in vain in some places like Opi and Ukehe in Nsukka and Igbo-Etiti LGA, since they lost out in the PDP primaries and jumped to Labour Party angrily.
Their activities do not go beyond the aforementioned places in the two local government areas, where their paymasters hail and operate from.
So unfortunate for them is the fact that even in these places, they have no strong political followers or supporters. Electorate avoid them like plague, knowing that they are not altruistic and are on vendetta mission against Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for not supporting Bar. Chijioke Edeoga to emerge PDP governorship candidate.
This is why across the length and breadth of Enugu state, they have no presence or membership or political activities especially now that campaigns are ongoing.
Even Hon.Toby Okechukwu, the PDP member representing Aninri/ Awgu/ Oji River Federal Constituency, whom the Nsukka labourers forcely gave a House of Representatives ticket without his consent outrightly rejected it, knowing full well that they are labouring in vain.
While the governorship candidate of the PDP Bar. Peter Mbah and his running mate, Bar. Ifeanyi Ossai are busy traversing the nooks and crannies of Enugu State engaging the voters and soliciting for their supports and votes, the sacked Nsukka Labour Party, Bar. Chijioke Edeoga and his partners in envy and hatred are busy hibernating from Abuja to Lagos, mesmerising, hoodwinking and fleecing some Nsukka political neophytes of their hard earned monies in the guise of phantom Nsukka governorship project.
They are seriously engaging in political advanced fee fraud. Yes, 419. Their method is to always tell their targets, what they want to hear and what will gladden their hearts, which are the blatant lies that Governor Ugwuanyi failed Nsukka, Governor Ugwuanyi hates Nsukka, Governor Ugwuanyi sold ticket to Mbah for N2bn and other tales by moonlight that have become their stock- in- trade.
This is why Edeoga has not been seen campaigning in Nkanu East, Nkanu West, Uzo-Uwani and many other local government areas in the state.
Edeoga and his few supporters know that they are not in the elections for contest, but for pretence, spoil and grandstanding.
In short, Edeoga and his co-labourers have in recent times become more of Diaspora scammers, campaigners and blackmailers than politicians seeking for votes in Enugu state.
I had it from the Nsukka labourers’ camp on good authority that Edeoga, who has been sacked by the court as factional candidate is not contesting governorship election to win. He is being used as political pawn by some failed Nsukka leaders who lured him to the Labour Party to see if they can use him to stop Governor Ugwuanyi’s senatorial ambition.
This is the extent Edeoga and his sponsors can display their political ignorance, naivety and miscalculations. It is obvious that Edeoga and his cohorts lack political sagacity to understand the arithmetic of politics.
If not, why would they think they can stop Governor Ugwuanyi, Mbah and other PDP candidates’ political ambitions in Enugu North senatorial zone with their politics of tribalism, sadism, hatred, vendetta and mischief. It is not possible. The people are wiser. They know the truth and will stand by it at all time.
No amount of sponsored social media criticisms and tirades against Governor Ugwuanyi by Edeoga and Nsukka Labour Party social media e-rats will stop or truncate Governor Ugwuanyi or Mbah’s 2023 election victory.
Edeoga and his ignorant Nsukka labourers should brace up for their impending defeat by PDP in 2023 elections, that is if Edeoga will ever contest, following his sack by the court and the legal gymnastics that has continued to trail it.
Nsukka Labour Party crusaders and Edeoga are in the middle of the road. They created these problems for themselves, in their desperate bid to get at Governor Ugwuanyi, who has been their benefactor for years.
Thier plan to pay Governor Ugwuanyi back his goodness with conspiracies, evils and backstabbing is bomeranging. They will surely meet their waterloo in the elections.
They will lick their wounds and Governor Ugwuanyi, Mbah and other PDP candidates will laugh last.
